Free FLV Player EN is a standalone FLV player that plays all types of FLV files.
FLV is the extension for files in the Flash Video format. Developed by Adobe, Flash Video is a video container that can contain a wide range of different encodings and is well-suited to delivering content over the Internet. Flash Video proved to be a versatile format, so while it may have originally been intended for embedding on websites and the like, people have found a wide range of uses for it. Hulu is a notable service that uses it to distribute video content to its viewers.
Free FLV Player EN is a standalone multimedia player that handles nothing but FLV files, and the upside to this focus is that it can handle any type of FLV file you throw at it. No matter the size of the file or the underlying encoding, Free FLV Player performs in a fast and stable manner without consuming a lot of resources. Note that the EN in the name refers to this version supporting English. No other localizations are included, but there are other editions for other languages.
Free FLV Player doesn’t have a very modern UI. In fact, the user interface is a bit rough around the edges aesthetically. However, it is organized in an intuitive manner and includes only those controls that you need to play an FLV files, such as Open File, Play, Pause, Stop, a volume slider, and a time slider.
The only issue with Free FLV Player is its narrow focus on playing FLV files. There are a number of excellent video players available that are also freeware and play FLV files in addition to dozens and even hundreds of other video file formats. So this is a niche app, but if that niche suits you because you have many FLV files and watch them often, then this program is an excellent option for that.
- Simple and straightforward FLV player
